Relegation Battle: Forest, Everton, Leicester

The relegation battle in the Premier League is going right down to the wire with five clubs in danger and only two able to escape the drop zone. On Monday, 21 goals were scored in three incident-packed games involving clubs fighting for their lives. Nottingham Forest are currently in 16th place with 33 points and a -31 goal difference. They earned six points from nine in their last three games, with a dramatic 4-3 win over Southampton in the late game on Monday. However, they have a tough run-in with trips to Chelsea, Arsenal, and Crystal Palace. Everton are in 17th place with 32 points and a -21 goal difference. They shocked many with their 5-1 win at Brighton, with a brilliant display from Abdoulaye Doucoure and the return of Dominic Calvert-Lewin earning them their first win since March 11. They will face Manchester City next, before fixtures away at Wolves and at home to Bournemouth. Leicester are in 18th place with 30 points and a -15 goal difference, having lost 5-3 at Fulham to fall back into the bottom three. They have Champions League contenders Liverpool and Newcastle to come before West Ham visit on the final day. Leeds are in 19th place with 30 points and a -25 goal difference. They lost 2-1 at Manchester City and have earned just one point from their last six games. Sam Allardyce will need to sort out their leaky defence and get more of a cutting edge from Patrick Bamford and Wilfried Gnonto. They will face Newcastle and West Ham, before hosting Tottenham on the last day. Southampton are in 20th place with 24 points and a -33 goal difference, eight points from safety and all-but guaranteed to be relegated. Ruben Selles, the club’s third manager of the season, and youngsters Romeo Lavia and Carlos Alcaraz have shown promise but they have only earned one point from their last seven games. Southampton’s relegation will be confirmed if they fail to beat Fulham at St Mary’s on Saturday.
