Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham Sustains Calf Injury Ahead of England’s Nations League Campaign

Date:

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has suffered a calf injury in training just weeks before England’s Nations League campaign. The 21-year-old was unable to complete a club session on Friday, and it is unclear how long he will be sidelined for. Reports from Spain suggest that Bellingham could be out until late September, which would mean he misses England’s opening two fixtures under interim manager Lee Carsley.

This injury comes as a blow to both Real Madrid and the England national team. Bellingham had an impressive debut season at the Bernabeu, scoring 23 goals in 42 appearances as Madrid clinched the La Liga and Champions League double. He started in their recent 1-1 draw against Mallorca in the La Liga and was also a key player in their Super Cup victory over Atalanta.

England’s Nations League campaign begins on September 7th with a match against the Republic of Ireland, followed by a game against Finland on September 10th. If Bellingham is indeed out until late September, he will miss these crucial fixtures. His absence will be felt in the midfield, as he has proven to be a dynamic and influential player for both club and country.

Interim manager Lee Carsley will have to make adjustments to his squad selection in light of Bellingham’s injury. He is expected to announce his squad on August 29th, and he will be assisted by former England left-back Ashley Cole during his time in charge. Carsley will also have the support of former England centre-back Joleon Lescott and the Football Association’s head of coaching Tim Dittmer.

Injuries are always unfortunate, especially when they occur right before important matches. Bellingham’s absence will be a setback for both Real Madrid and England, but it also presents an opportunity for other players to step up and prove their worth. This is a chance for Carsley to test the depth of talent within the squad and find suitable replacements for Bellingham in the midfield.

It remains to be seen how long Bellingham will be out of action, and his progress will be closely monitored by Real Madrid. Calf injuries can be tricky and require careful rehabilitation to avoid any setbacks. The focus now shifts to the upcoming Nations League fixtures and how the England squad will adapt without one of their key players.

Overall, Bellingham’s injury is a blow for both Real Madrid and England, but it gives other players a chance to shine. It will be interesting to see how Carsley adjusts his squad and if they can still perform at a high level without Bellingham’s presence in the midfield.
