Carlo Ancelotti: Real Madrid Will Not Sign New Centre-Back in January Transfer Window
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that the club will not be signing a new centre-back in the upcoming January transfer window. This statement comes after previous reports suggested that Real Madrid would consider bringing in a defender due to David Alaba’s injury.
Alaba, who ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee during a match against Villarreal last month, was expected to be out for an extended period. However, Ancelotti believes that he has enough depth in his squad to cope with the absence of Alaba and other injured players.
“We are not considering signing a centre-back at the moment,” Ancelotti said. “We have two other centre-backs in whom we have a lot of confidence, and Tchouameni and Dani Carvajal can also do well in an emergency. Therefore, we will not be signing a centre-back.”
Ancelotti’s statement puts an end to speculation about Real Madrid’s transfer plans for the winter market. The club currently sits at the top of La Liga and is confident in its ability to compete without making any additional signings.
In other news, it was recently announced that Ancelotti has agreed to a contract extension with Real Madrid, keeping him at the club until 2026. The Italian coach had been linked with the Brazil national team job but expressed his desire to stay in Madrid.
“I am very happy with the renewal,” Ancelotti said. “I want to be the coach until 2026 and hopefully even longer. I like Madrid, and I want to continue here.”
Real Madrid’s next match is against Mallorca this week, and Ancelotti revealed that several injured players are set to return to the squad. Right-back Carvajal will start in the upcoming match, and other players such as Vinicius, Guler, Mendy, and Camavinga are expected to make their comebacks in the following weeks.
Ancelotti is optimistic about the team’s prospects for the rest of the season and aims to start the new part of the campaign on a positive note. Real Madrid fans can look forward to seeing their team in action as they continue their pursuit of success in La Liga.
