And following the Bundesliga champion’s victory, Los Blancos stars Benzema and Vinicius posted a thinly veiled dig at their rivals.

Benzema posted an image of him holding the Champions League trophy on his Instagram story, and paired it with the caption: “Good night.”

Vinicius followed suit, posting an image of him in training laughing with team-mates.

Real Madrid fans online saw the funny side of the stories, while a number of Barcelona fans, understandably aggravated by the dig, declared the pair were “obsessed” with the Blaugrana.

Despite not having an affiliation with Real Madrid, Chelsea defender Thiago Silva also joined in with the mocking

However, his post was aimed directly toward Jules Kounde.

Silva posted an image of him laughing with the caption: “He almost joined us.”

This was likely in direct response to Kounde’s post from last week responding to Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb where the Barcelona star said: “I almost joined them.”

Kounde had been pursued by Chelsea during the summer, but opted to join Barcelona instead.
