Odell Beckham Jr. Shows No Limitations at Baltimore Ravens Training Camp
OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Odell Beckham Jr. made quite the entrance at his second Baltimore Ravens training camp practice. The star wide receiver did a dance, flailing his arms around while bouncing from side to side, before turning around and sprinting full speed in a wide receiver drill. It was a sight that Ravens fans have been eagerly waiting to see.
Now 17 months removed from his left knee injury, Beckham indicated that there are “no real limitations” on what he can do in practice. This is great news for the Ravens, who are counting on Beckham to make a significant impact on their passing attack this season.
“I don’t know percentages; I just feel good,” Beckham said. “I feel like I’m going to continue to work to get back to who I know I truly am.”
Beckham, 30, hasn’t played in a game since injuring his knee in Super Bowl LVI in February 2022. This led to his second surgery on his left knee in a three-year span. However, as he starts his first training camp since 2021, Beckham is running and cutting without hesitation and showing off the route-running skills that made him a three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver. He even caught a deep pass from quarterback Lamar Jackson in the first practice of camp on Wednesday.
On returning to the field, Beckham said: “I wanted to be grateful for that moment. It was a long time in rehab. I didn’t care what happened [on the field]. It was a blessing to step on the field.”
Beckham’s physical transformation has also caught the attention of reporters. One commented that he looked like he had added more muscle since minicamp in June, prompting Beckham to flex both arms. While he declined to disclose the exact amount of weight he has gained, Beckham made it clear that he has put in the work to get stronger and be in the best shape possible for the upcoming season.
The Ravens signed Beckham in April to a one-year, $15 million contract, making him the highest-paid free agent wide receiver this year. Baltimore is banking on Beckham’s talent and experience, along with rookie first-round pick Zay Flowers, to help turn around their passing attack, which finished 28th in the NFL last season.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh has been impressed with Beckham’s progress and believes he is on track to be ready for the start of the season.
“It seems to be that Odell has a good plan, and I see him working himself on a schedule to be ready to start the season,” Harbaugh said. “He’s definitely not where he’s going to be, but you could see the step from minicamp, so that was a good step in the right direction.”
The Ravens are optimistic about what Beckham can bring to their offense. His speed, agility, and ability to make contested catches will provide a significant boost to their passing game. With Lamar Jackson throwing him the ball, Beckham has the potential to be one of the most dynamic wide receivers in the league once again.
As training camp continues, all eyes will be on Beckham as he continues to showcase his skills and build chemistry with his new teammates. The Ravens are hoping that Beckham’s presence on the field will open up opportunities for other receivers and create a more balanced and explosive offense.
For Beckham, this is a chance to prove that he can still be a dominant force in the NFL. After a string of injuries and setbacks, he is determined to show that he is back and better than ever. With no limitations holding him back, Beckham is ready to make a statement and help lead the Ravens to a successful season.
As the Ravens prepare for the upcoming season, having a healthy and motivated Odell Beckham Jr. is undoubtedly a significant advantage. If he can stay on the field and showcase his full potential, the Ravens’ passing attack could become one of the most dangerous in the league. Fans will be eagerly watching to see what Beckham can do and how he can elevate the team’s performance.
