Manchester United Hope to Have Rasmus Hojlund Available for Selection at the Start of September
Manchester United hope to have Rasmus Hojlund available for selection at the start of September. The Dane completed a £64million move to Old Trafford last week but he arrived with a back injury.
Though United have dismissed claims the issue is a long-standing one and could prevent Hojlund from playing multiple matches a week, the club are managing his workload.
Hojlund Training Separately
Hojlund has been unable to train with his new team-mates, and he trained separately away from the group on Thursday.
The striker’s injury is improving, and Ten Hag is confident he will soon be available for selection. ‘Of course he’s available and he’s here so you have the option to play, but we don’t expect him in that short notice to be 100 per cent fit. So we have to wait sometime more,’ said Ten Hag.
‘It’s difficult to say how that process will go, but I think he’s making good progress at this moment. We have to see day by day how the progress will go, then we have to follow up.’
Likely to Miss First Three Matches
The Athletic report that Hojlund is likely to miss United’s first three matches against Wolves, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest. But there is optimism that Hojlund will be up to speed by the end of the month.
And that means he’ll be in line to take on rivals Arsenal at the Emirates on September 3rd.
Martial Still Sidelined
Hojlund’s absence comes at a bad time for United, given Anthony Martial remains sidelined with a hamstring strain. The Frenchman has been out of action since May.
