Marcus Rashford Arrives for England Duty After Personal Reasons Delay
Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has joined the England squad after missing the start of training due to personal reasons. Rashford is expected to feature in the upcoming matches against Malta and North Macedonia.
Rashford was initially absent from Gareth Southgate’s training camp due to personal matters. However, he has now joined the squad, along with Kalvin Phillips who also had a delayed arrival for the same reason.
The Football Association confirmed the delay of Rashford and Phillips at the same time that Jude Bellingham and Levi Colwill withdrew from the squad, bringing the total number of withdrawals to five.
Southgate had already faced three withdrawals from the original squad, with James Maddison, Lewis Dunk, and Callum Wilson all missing out due to injury.
On a positive note, Manchester City’s Rico Lewis and former teammate Cole Palmer have received their first call-ups to the England squad. Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa could also earn his first England cap after being called up.
Rashford recently returned to the Manchester United starting line-up after recovering from an injury. Although he has only scored one Premier League goal this season, Southgate believes that Rashford will start scoring again soon.
