Manchester United favourite Rafael da Silva says he would ‘love’ to see his former side sign Eduardo Camavinga this summer.

United have already agreed a deal to bring in Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund with the club now working on a move to sign Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.

18-year-old Rennes star Camavinga is also on their radar and are understood to have already made an approach to the midfielder’s representatives.

Camavinga is considered one of the best young midfielders in Europe and has attracted interested from several clubs including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

And while there is likely to be intense competition for his signature, Rafael hopes to see his former side land one of Europe’s brightest talents.

‘He’s a very good player,’ Rafael told the TalkingDevils podcast.

‘In his first season he was amazing… just incredible at 17.

‘Then, like me, like normally happens with younger guys, he dropped a little last season. But this is normal, it’s what comes with adapting to pressure.

‘Camavinga is a very good midfielder and I’d love to see him at United.’

Camavinga has one year left on his current contract with Rennes likely to cash in while they can this summer.

United also face strong competition from Chelsea, with Petr Cech said to be the driving force behind the club’s efforts to strike a deal with Rennes.

Cech played a key role in Chelsea’s successful pursuit of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy last summer and his strong relationship with Rennes’ hierarchy could be influential once again.
