Jarell Quansah Completes Alphabet of Goalscorers for Liverpool
Jarell Quansah, a 20-year-old defender for Liverpool, achieved a significant milestone by scoring his first goal for the club. Although the goal came in a losing match against Union SG, it was a moment to savor due to Quansah’s emphatic touch and finish.
In an interview with LFCTV, Quansah expressed his concern about the goals conceded by the team rather than his personal achievement. He stated, “Probably because we had just conceded a goal, I wasn’t too happy myself, so it was more [a case of] we’ve got one back and a consolation for the goal we conceded.”
However, what Quansah may not have realized is that he has become the first Liverpool player to score a goal for the club with a last name starting with ‘Q’. This accomplishment completes the club’s list of goalscorers from A-Z, making Quansah the top scorer for the letter ‘Q’.
It is worth noting that it took 131 years for Liverpool to have a goalscorer with a last name starting with ‘Q’. This achievement solidifies Quansah’s place in the club’s history.
While some letters of the alphabet have had notable goalscorers like John Aldridge, Kenny Dalglish, Robbie Fowler, Steven Gerrard, Ian Rush, and Mohamed Salah, other letters have been less represented. Players like Harold Uren, Abel Xavier, and Bolo Zenden have scored goals for Liverpool but may not be as easily remembered.
This completion of the alphabet of goalscorers is a surprising and impressive feat for Liverpool. It reflects the collective effort and history of the club over the years.
Up the A-Z Reds!
