West Ham supporters from all corners of the UK have been travelling to Prague for the Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina. The match will take place in the Czech capital, and fans have been flying across Europe to support their team.
One fan, Peter, has made the journey to Prague with his father, but unfortunately, his son was unable to join them due to work commitments. Speaking to talkSPORT Breakfast, Peter expressed his excitement about the upcoming match.
He said, “I’m just driving to the airport now to pick up my 70-year-old dad. I’m a 54-year-old grandad with a bald head and a West Ham tattoo, and I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited in my life.”
Peter went on to explain that West Ham fans are used to disappointment, but this match is a unique opportunity for the team. He said, “We’re used to disappointment, and that’s a fact really. 30 odd years following this team up and down the country, there ain’t been a lot to shout about, but it’s such an opportunity. I don’t quite know what I’m going to do if we win, I don’t know!”
Despite his excitement, Peter admitted that he was a little nervous about the match. He said, “I don’t mean to be negative, but it just feels like I’ve had it in the back of my mind now, and I’m sure everybody else’s for two weeks. We didn’t go yesterday because I wanted to see the game tonight, because there’s a lot of sore heads this morning walking around.”
Peter also gave a shoutout to his son, who was unable to join them on the trip. He said, “Just a shout out to my boy, his employers blocked his leave yesterday so he can’t come, and he’s been everywhere with me. Poor old Niall, he’s still at home.”
Overall, West Ham fans are eagerly anticipating the Europa Conference League final, and supporters like Peter are excited to share the experience with their loved ones.
