Peter Bosz hails Arsenal as one of the best teams in the world after 4-0 Champions League win
Arsenal delivered an impressive performance in their first game back in the Champions League as they defeated PSV 4-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening. Mikel Arteta’s men were in fine form as goals from Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard sealed a deserved win.
PSV head coach Peter Bosz was full of praise for Arsenal after the game, hailing them as one of the best teams in the world. ‘The difference in quality was just too big tonight,’ Bosz said. ‘If we were to lie in front of the box we would have conceded to them too. We did not defend well in our own box, we were not short. But that also has to do with their quality. Arsenal are one of the best teams in the world, we are not. I don’t blame the boys.’
PSV captain Luuk De Jong believes Arsenal have already wrapped up top spot in Group B
The result puts Arsenal top of Group B, while Sevilla and Lens have a point each after their 1-1 draw in Spain. Speaking after his team’s defeat at the Emirates Stadium, PSV captain Luuk de Jong already believes Arsenal will finish in top spot following their dominant performance.
‘Arsenal are simply a very good team,’ De Jong said. ‘We tried to put pressure on them, but we quickly conceded two goals. They know exactly where to move when we put pressure on them and they always knew where to find a free man. They have a lot of calmness with the ball, their level is so high. It was difficult for us today. Still, our team deserves compliments because we fought. Arsenal were just a size too big. We will have to compete with the other teams for second place.’
Arsenal look set to finish top of Group B
The win puts Arsenal in pole position to finish top of Group B and qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League. With two games against Sevilla and one against Lens remaining, Arsenal will be confident of sealing their place in the last 16. Mikel Arteta will be delighted with his side’s performance against PSV and will be hoping they can carry this form into their next game against Rapid Vienna.
