PSG Urged to Hire Simeone or Mourinho to Achieve Champions League Dream, Messi and Mbappe Criticized

Date:

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has suffered yet another defeat in the Champions League, despite having star players Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe on their side. The French team lost to Bayern Munich in their last-16 clash, failing to score and ultimately crashing out of the competition. This marks the fifth time in the last seven seasons that PSG has been eliminated in the first knockout round of the Champions League, despite the significant amount of money invested in the club.

Football pundit Danny Mills, speaking on talkSPORT, criticized Messi and Mbappe for their lacklustre performance and suggested that PSG should hire either Diego Simeone or Jose Mourinho to help them win the Champions League. Mills believes that Simeone could use his defensive tactics to make PSG a formidable team, while Mourinho could build a team that is incredibly difficult to beat. However, Mills also acknowledged that managing the expectations and egos of PSG’s star players would be a challenge for any coach.

PSG’s current coach, Christophe Galtier, is under pressure and may be sacked soon. PSG’s Qatari owners have been aiming to win the Champions League since they took over the club in 2011, but have yet to achieve this goal. The closest they came was in 2020 when they reached the final but were beaten by Bayern Munich.

The future of Messi and Mbappe at PSG is also uncertain. Messi’s contract with PSG is set to expire in the summer, and there have been rumours of him returning to Barcelona. Mbappe signed a new deal with PSG in the summer, but there are still questions about his standing at the club.

Overall, PSG’s repeated failures in the Champions League highlight the challenges of building a successful football team. While having star players can help, it takes more than individual talent to win a major competition like the Champions League. PSG’s owners will need to continue investing in the club and finding the right coach to lead them to victory.
