Paris Saint-Germain fans were far from gracious in their farewell to Lionel Messi, who was booed during his final game for the club. PSG manager Christophe Galtier had announced prior to the game that Messi would be leaving the club this summer. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner played his last game for the Ligue 1 champions in their home match against Clermont, which ended in a 3-2 defeat. The fans booed Messi during the game and again during the trophy presentation when his name was announced. PSG confirmed before kick-off that Messi would leave ahead of next season, thanking him for his contributions to the team during his two-year stint, which included winning a Trophée des Champions and two Ligue 1 titles. Reports suggest that Messi could be moving to Saudi Arabia, with Al Hilal keen to sign him. Messi bid farewell to PSG, thanking the club, the city of Paris, and its people for his time there, and wishing them all the best for the future. Messi signed for PSG as a free agent in 2021 after leaving Barcelona, where he made 778 appearances. He scored 32 goals in all competitions for PSG and will leave the French capital with two Ligue 1 titles to his name.
