As the 2022/23 Premier League season draws to a close, the race for a place in the top four and the Champions League is heating up. Newcastle, Manchester United, and Liverpool are the three teams battling for two spots, with Tottenham out of contention and Brighton needing a miracle. Newcastle, currently in third place, have been difficult to beat all season and boast the second-best defensive record in the league. With a top-six finish guaranteed, they are now only one point away from securing a place in the top four. Manchester United, in fourth place, have climbed the table after a difficult start under Erik ten Hag. They are now three points clear of Liverpool with a game in hand and need just one point from their final two games to secure Champions League football. Liverpool, in fifth place, have had an inconsistent season but have won seven straight games in the league. However, a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa has all but ended their chances of making the top four, as they need one of Newcastle or Man United to lose both of their remaining matches while they would need to beat Southampton. The top-four battle is set to go down to the wire as we head into the final week of the season.
