Macclesfield Sign Former Everton and Hull Striker Oumar Niasse on Short-Term Deal
Macclesfield FC has officially signed Oumar Niasse, the former Everton and Hull striker, on a short-term contract. The 33-year-old Senegalese international has been without a club since his departure from Morecambe at the end of last season. Niasse will now be playing in the Northern Premier League.
Bringing Experience and Quality to Macclesfield
Oumar Niasse brings a wealth of experience to Macclesfield FC, having made over 50 appearances at the highest level. Known for his pace and power, Niasse adds real quality to Alex Bruce’s squad. The club is delighted to have secured his signature and wishes him every success during his time at The Leasing.com Stadium.
A Career Highlight at Everton
Niasse is best known for his four-year spell at Everton, where he scored eight goals in 35 appearances. However, his time at the club was marred by falling out of favor with then-manager Ronald Koeman. After being informed that he needed to find a new club, Niasse was not given a squad number for the 2016-17 campaign.
A Second Chance and Subsequent Demotion
Despite failing to secure a move before the transfer deadline, Niasse was reintegrated into Koeman’s first team set-up and given a new squad number. However, his return was short-lived as he was eventually demoted to the under-23 squad just two months later.
