Premier League rivals attempted to lure Saliba in a cheeky transfer from Arsenal

According to reports, a Premier League rival of Arsenal’s has failed in an attempt to sign defender William Saliba. The 22-year-old is set to sign a new long-term contract with the Gunners, with the final details still being worked out. The contract is expected to run until 2027, with the possibility of a further 12-month option, and will be worth around £200,000-per-week. This is considerably more than Saliba’s current salary of £40,000-a-week. Manchester United and Bayern Munich were also reportedly interested in Saliba, but Arsenal are now confident of securing his future with an official announcement expected in the coming weeks. Saliba becomes the fourth key Arsenal player this year to agree a new long-term contract, following Gabriel Martinelli, Aaron Ramsdale and Bukayo Saka.
