Premier League Fixtures Could be Shown on DAZN from 2025

The Premier League is set to undergo a major revamp in the way TV rights are sold, and streaming giant DAZN could enter the race to show the action. According to reports, Premier League fixtures could be shown on DAZN from 2025, while current broadcaster Amazon is said to be ready to end their football coverage.

The Premier League TV rights for 2025 to 2029 are set to go on sale soon, and DAZN will be in the bidding this time. However, it remains unclear if they will be able to match the offers from Sky and TNT. The Mail also claims that Amazon is considering pulling out of showing football. Amazon has been involved in Premier League coverage since 2019, showing 20 games per season in a three-year deal worth £90 million.

However, their deal is set to finish at the end of the 2024/25 season, and it is not expected that they will continue their interest. This comes as Premier League chiefs plan a reshape of the way they sell TV rights in order to make more money. The next batch of sales is expected to generate £4 billion per year, an increase from the current £3.47 billion.

A document will soon be sent to channels informing them of the proposed changes. The new deals will run for four years, from 2025 to 2029, as opposed to the current three-year contracts. The number of games on TV per season is set to rise from 200 to between 250 and 270. However, there will be fewer packages for channels to bid for, with five set to be available instead of seven.

Despite the decrease in the number of packages, the increase in the number of games per package means that all broadcasters will be able to offer viewers a more substantial offering. There could also be an impact on kick-off times, with additional Friday night, Saturday lunchtime and evening, as well as Monday night games, set to be available for channels to acquire. There could also be three slots for matches on Sundays, although the previously discussed late evening position may not be included.

Currently, Sky pays £9.8 million for each game they show, while TNT pays less at £6.25 million. It remains to be seen if DAZN will be able to match or exceed these figures in their bid for Premier League rights.

The potential entry of DAZN into the Premier League broadcasting landscape could bring about significant changes. DAZN is known for its extensive sports coverage and has a strong presence in various countries around the world. If they secure the rights to show Premier League fixtures, it could provide football fans with another platform to watch their favorite teams in action.

The competition between broadcasters for Premier League rights is fierce, with each company vying for the opportunity to showcase the most popular football league in the world. The revenue generated from TV rights plays a crucial role in the financial success of the Premier League and its clubs. As streaming services continue to grow in popularity, it is no surprise that DAZN is looking to enter the market and potentially challenge the established broadcasters.

In conclusion, Premier League fixtures could be shown on DAZN from 2025, according to reports. The upcoming sale of TV rights for the 2025-2029 period presents an opportunity for DAZN to enter the race and compete with established broadcasters like Sky and TNT. The potential entry of DAZN could bring about significant changes in the way Premier League matches are broadcasted, providing football fans with more options to watch their favorite teams. As the competition for TV rights intensifies, it will be interesting to see how the landscape of Premier League broadcasting evolves in the coming years.
