Fulham and Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in signing Sunderland midfielder Pierre Ekwah in the upcoming January transfer window. Ekwah, 21, joined Sunderland from West Ham’s academy in January on a permanent transfer. Since then, he has made 35 appearances for the first team. However, other clubs, including Nottingham Forest, are also said to be interested in the Frenchman.
Fulham and Crystal Palace Eyeing January Move
According to the Standard, both Fulham and Crystal Palace are exploring the possibility of signing Ekwah in January. Sunderland, on the other hand, are determined to keep hold of the midfielder beyond the transfer window. Fulham sees Ekwah as a potential long-term replacement for Joao Palhinha, who is expected to leave Craven Cottage soon despite signing a new contract. Crystal Palace, under the management of Roy Hodgson, is prioritizing the signing of a new midfielder.
Ekwah’s Journey and Interest from Other Clubs
Ekwah began his career in Chelsea’s academy in 2018 before moving to West Ham in 2021. However, he decided to leave West Ham at the beginning of this year after failing to secure a place in the first team. Now, he has attracted attention from Fulham and Crystal Palace, who are keen on bolstering their midfield options.
It remains to be seen whether Sunderland will be able to retain Ekwah or if he will make a move to one of the interested clubs in January.
