Fabio Carvalho Attracts Premier League and Championship Interest After Early Loan Return
Fabio Carvalho, the 21-year-old Liverpool player, has caught the attention of Premier League and Championship clubs after his early return from loan at RB Leipzig. It is reported that an ex-Liverpool coach is among those interested in signing him.
Carvalho is looking for a more fulfilling experience in the second half of the season, as he only played 360 minutes across 15 games during his time at Leipzig. As a result, he is expected to go out on loan again for the rest of the season.
While Carvalho has not been seen training with Liverpool’s first team since his recall, other returning loanees Nat Phillips and Owen Beck have joined the first team in training.
Several clubs have already expressed interest in Carvalho, including Fulham, Southampton, Leicester, and Wolves. Journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Wolves have asked for Carvalho on loan until the end of the season. However, Liverpool and Carvalho’s camp are still considering their options and looking for guaranteed game time for the player.
Wolves, managed by former Liverpool academy coach Gary O’Neil, are operating under financial constraints but are keen to recruit attack-minded players due to absences caused by AFCON and the Asian Cup. They recently suffered a notable loss with Hee-Chan Hwang, their top goalscorer, leaving the club.
Carvalho’s last senior goal came in December 2022, so it remains to be seen if he can replicate that level of performance. Interest from top six Championship clubs, including Leicester and Southampton, has also been noted by Romano.
Liverpool and Carvalho’s representatives will carefully assess the plans clubs have for the player, considering his limited playing time at Leipzig. It is crucial for his development to find a suitable environment for his growth.
On Friday, Carvalho did not train with Liverpool’s first team as they prepared for their FA Cup clash against Arsenal. In contrast, his fellow returning loanees, Beck and Phillips, joined the training session.
