Arsenal Linked with Spanish Midfielder Martin Zubimendi for January Transfer
Arsenal is reportedly considering a January move for Martin Zubimendi, a player who many believe could be the long-term successor to Rodri for the Spanish national team. The Gunners are currently leading the title race and are looking to strengthen their squad during the busy festive period.
After narrowly missing out on the Premier League title last season, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is determined to avoid a repeat this year. To strengthen the squad, Arsenal may enter the transfer market in January. According to The Athletic, the club is on alert for potential signings, but any new arrivals will depend on factors such as injuries, profitability, and sustainability rules.
Arsenal previously explored the idea of signing 24-year-old midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. Their interest in him remains strong, as he played a crucial role in helping Sociedad qualify for the Champions League and reach the knockout stages. Zubimendi’s playing style has drawn comparisons to Rodri of Manchester City, and he has attracted interest from Barcelona as well.
While Zubimendi recently signed a contract extension with Sociedad until 2027, there is a release clause in the deal. However, Arsenal would need multiple factors to align for the transfer to happen, including Zubimendi’s willingness to leave his boyhood team.
