Reports suggest that despite a late attempt by Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino to hijack Liverpool’s deal for midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, the Argentine had already set his sights on a move to Anfield. Mac Allister, who won the World Cup last year, completed a £35m move from Brighton to Liverpool on Thursday morning. Although prices as high as £65m had been quoted for the 24-year-old, a release clause in his contract allowed him to leave for the bargain fee. Chelsea are now thought to be targeting a move for another Brighton star, Moises Caicedo.
