Pochettino waits for Real Madrid job, rejects Tottenham and Chelsea amid Potter sacking.

Date:

Reports suggest that Mauricio Pochettino is holding out for a move to Real Madrid this summer, despite interest from Chelsea and Tottenham. The Argentine, who is best known for his five-year spell at Spurs, has been out of work since leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season. According to TYC Sports, the Argentine boss rejected a possible return to north London last week as he pins his hopes on a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

It’s also reported that Ajax and the Belgian national team had expressed an interest in Pochettino of late, however his eyes are firmly set on Los Blancos amid the ongoing uncertainty regarding Carlo Ancelotti’s future. During his 18 months with the French giants, Pochettino won the Ligue 1 title and the Coupe de France, but fell short in the Champions League.

Since leaving PSG, Pochettino has been biding his time as he waits for his next role, with Tottenham among the clubs linked with a move for him. Pochettino joins Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique, Thomas Frank and Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi also linked with the role.

Cristian Stellini is in interim charge in north London at the moment following the sacking of Antonio Conte, starting with Monday night’s trip to Everton – a clash that is exclusively live on talkSPORT. The Italian left his role during the international break following his stinging criticism of Tottenham’s players following their 3-3 draw with Southampton. It remains to be seen when a permanent successor will be named, with Spurs keen to ensure that they name the right person for the job.

Chelsea are also on the lookout for a new manager after sacking Graham Potter. talkSPORT understands that Pochettino is admired by Chelsea, but it seems that he has his heart set on a move to Real Madrid. It’s no surprise that Pochettino is a wanted man, given his impressive track record in management. He transformed Tottenham from a mid-table side to a top-four team, taking them to the Champions League final in 2019.

Pochettino is known for his attacking style of play and his ability to develop young players. He has a reputation for building strong relationships with his players and getting the best out of them. His man-management skills are highly regarded in the game, and he has been praised for his ability to create a positive team spirit.

Real Madrid would be a big challenge for Pochettino, but it’s a challenge that he would relish. The Spanish giants are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and they have a history of success. Pochettino would be expected to deliver trophies, but he has shown in the past that he is capable of doing just that.

It remains to be seen whether Pochettino will get his wish and land the Real Madrid job. The club are known for their high standards, and they will want to appoint a manager who can take them back to the top of European football. However, if Pochettino does get the job, it will be fascinating to see how he fares at one of the biggest clubs in the world.
