Chelsea Midfielder Conor Gallagher’s Future Uncertain as Pochettino Leaves Decision to Club
Mauricio Pochettino has raised doubts about Conor Gallagher’s future at Chelsea, stating that the decision to keep the midfielder lies with the club.
Despite starting in almost all of Chelsea’s league matches this season and serving as captain in the absence of Reece James, Gallagher’s contract is set to expire in 18 months. Reports suggest that Chelsea may consider offers for him in January to raise funds for a new striker.
Pochettino’s Uncertainty
Pochettino, when asked about Gallagher’s situation, responded, “That is between the club and the player. I don’t need to talk too much because it is not my decision. He is in the starting eleven in nearly all the games and is one of the captains. For me, he is the type of player that the club needs to have.”
Chelsea’s Striker Search
Chelsea is actively looking to sign a striker in the upcoming transfer window, with Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney among the players on their shortlist. Pochettino hinted at the need for more signings, stating that the team is “missing something” following their recent defeat to Everton.
Pochettino emphasized the need for improvement and a more aggressive approach in order to achieve their goals. He stated that the club will assess the situation with the sporting directors and make decisions accordingly when the transfer window opens.
