Chelsea outcast Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has ‘liked’ a post on Instagram confirming news of Graham Potter’s sacking.
Potter was dismissed on Sunday night after less than seven months in the role following a horrendous run of results, with the side 11th in the Premier League.
During his short spell in charge of the Blues, he froze out 33-year-old striker Aubameyang, who has not appeared for Chelsea since February.
He was last spotted out in Barcelona, joining the team’s celebrations after they beat Real Madrid two weeks ago.
Former Arsenal captain Aubameyang only joined Chelsea from Barcelona last summer but looks set to leave west London at the end of the season.
Aubameyang seemed to enjoy Potter’s sacking, hitting ‘like’ on the Instagram post which confirmed his departure.
The Gabon international had the opportunity to leave Chelsea on loan in the January transfer window but turned down a move to Los Angeles FC.
Meanwhile, Bruno Saltor will take interim charge of Chelsea as they return to action on Tuesday night against Liverpool.
A statement from the club read: ‘Chelsea FC has announced that Graham Potter has departed the club. Graham has agreed to collaborate with the club to facilitate a smooth transition.
‘In his time with the club, Graham has taken us to the quarter final of the Champions League, where we will face Real Madrid. Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contribution and wish him well for the future.’
A further statement from co-controlling owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali said: ‘On behalf of everyone at the club, we want to thank Graham sincerely for his contribution to Chelsea.
‘We have the highest degree of respect for Graham as a coach and as a person. He has always conducted himself with professionalism and integrity and we are all disappointed in this outcome.
‘Along with our incredible fans, we will all be getting behind Bruno and the team as we focus on the rest of the season. We have 10 Premier League games remaining and a Champions League quarter final ahead.
‘We will put every effort and commitment into every one of those games so that we can end the season on a high.’
