Peter Schmeichel trolls Jamie Carragher before Liverpool's crucial Real Madrid match

Ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid, Peter Schmeichel got his own back at Jamie Carragher. The Reds went into the game with a three-goal deficit following their 5-2 thrashing at Anfield in the first leg. However, last week Carragher led the banter brigade against the Manchester United legend following Liverpool’s historic 7-0 win over their rivals. In doing so, the ex-defender was seen drinking a can of 7UP and repeatedly used the word seven during his conversation with Schmeichel.

Fast forward a week, and it was Schmeichel’s turn to do the trolling. To start with, Schmeichel referenced Jurgen Klopp’s belief of a one per cent chance of progressing into the next round. He said: “I’m giving it a seven per cent chance for Liverpool to win this game,” cueing laughter from the panel in the CBS studio. Schmeichel continued: “If Real Madrid win it will be the seventh time that they have beat Liverpool. Of course, the sixth time was that seven-goal thriller at Anfield.”

Following his analysis, the panellists clapped Schmeichel, with the former goalkeeper unable to stop himself from smirking. In the end, Liverpool lost 1-0 thanks to Karim Benzema’s tap-in to confirm a humiliating 6-2 aggregate defeat. Liverpool’s win over Man Utd was followed up by a 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth.

Schmeichel also referenced Manchester City’s 7-1 win over RB Leipzig, with City being another of the Dane’s former clubs.

Peter Schmeichel has always been known for his quick wit and sense of humor, and he certainly didn’t disappoint ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid. The former Manchester United goalkeeper got his own back at Jamie Carragher, who had been trolling him after Liverpool’s historic 7-0 win over their rivals.

Last week, Carragher was seen drinking a can of 7UP and repeatedly using the word seven during his conversation with Schmeichel. However, this week it was Schmeichel’s turn to do the trolling. He referenced Jurgen Klopp’s belief of a one per cent chance of progressing into the next round and gave Liverpool a seven per cent chance of winning the game.

Schmeichel then went on to remind everyone that if Real Madrid won, it would be the seventh time they had beaten Liverpool. Of course, the sixth time was the famous seven-goal thriller at Anfield. The panellists clapped Schmeichel for his analysis, and he couldn’t help but smirk at his own joke.

Unfortunately for Liverpool fans, Schmeichel’s prediction was not far off, as they lost 1-0 to Real Madrid, confirming a humiliating 6-2 aggregate defeat. This defeat came after Liverpool’s win over Man Utd was followed up by a 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth.

Schmeichel also took the opportunity to reference Manchester City’s 7-1 win over RB Leipzig, another one of his former clubs. It seems that Schmeichel is not one to forget a good joke, and he certainly knows how to get his own back when he’s been trolled.

Overall, Schmeichel’s quick wit and sense of humor made for an entertaining pre-match analysis. While Liverpool fans may not have appreciated his prediction, it’s clear that Schmeichel knows how to make people laugh and keep them entertained.
