After Manchester United’s 3-0 defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League quarter-finals, Christian Eriksen spoke to BT Sport post-match and described the performance as a ‘bad day’. He went on to say that the team had lost their coolness and made more mistakes than usual, and that they had to quickly shift focus to Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Brighton at Wembley. This left Paul Scholes bemused in the studio, commenting that Eriksen looked ‘quite upbeat’.
Eriksen has recently returned from an ankle injury that ruled him out for over two months, making two appearances off the bench before turning in an excellent performance in the win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday. He started Thursday’s second leg tie in Spain, replaced by Anthony Elanga after 86 minutes.
