The midfielder missed training as a result and it is not yet certain if he will play any part in tonight’s game against South Africa at the Pierre-Mauroy Stadium.

France‘s medical staff will make a decision on the 29-year-old’s fitness at some point today.

Were he to miss out, he would then be a doubt for Manchester United’s return to action.

The Red Devils are due to play Leicester on Saturday afternoon as they look to get their top-four challenge back on track.

Pogba looks set to join France in this winter’s 2022 World Cup competition in Qatar.

But before he embarks with the Tricolores to help them retain their crown he will have to decide on his future as his United contract runs out in June.

The ex-Juventus star’s next move is uncertain but he recently hinted he could actually pen a new deal with the Red Devils.

Pogba said: “Nothing is decided on my future, nothing is done.

“I can decide tomorrow, just as I can decide during the transfer window. I want to bounce back and finish the season well.

“Totally [playing for France is a breath of fresh air]. That’s the truth. There were difficult moments at United and I needed this break to regain my energy and confidence.

“Sometimes when I wasn’t playing or the results weren’t good, coming here, it gives a boost, a breath of air that also helps me to come back well to my club.”

Reigning world champions France are also facing the prospect of being without Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni for tonight’s game with South Africa.

Tchouameni, who has been linked with a move to United recently, is dealing with a fever.
