Nottingham Forest are confident of signing both Dean Henderson and Anthony Elanga from Manchester United.
United are hoping to offload a number of players this summer to boost Erik ten Hag’s transfer budget having already wrapped up deals for Mason Mount and Andre Onana for a combined fee of just over £100million.
Dean Henderson
Henderson, 26, spent last season on loan at the City Ground with his season ended by injury in January. He is currently in the US with the rest of the United squad as part of their pre-season tour but The Times report talks continue for him to leave. Henderson is thought to be keen on a permanent move away from Old Trafford with United hoping to collect a fee of £20million for the shot stopper.
Anthony Elanga
United meanwhile are looking for a fee of £15m for Elanga, who has also travelled to the US for friendly fixtures. There is reportedly growing optimism Forest can land both players with Steve Cooper’s side boosted by news the Sweden winger has rejected the chance to join Everton.
Reports claim Elanga has ruled out a move to Goodison Park, concerned over how he would fare playing under Toffees boss Sean Dyche. The Daily Mail report his move to Forest could be completed before the end of the weekend.
The 21-year-old broke into the United senior side during Ralf Rangnick’s interim spell in charge and featured during the early months of Erik ten Hag’s reign last season. The winger managed just 27 minutes of Premier League football in 2023 however, falling down the pecking order amid competition from the likes of Antony, Jadon Sancho and breakout star Alejandro Garnacho.
Other Players Leaving Manchester United
Zidane Iqbal has already sealed a move away from United this summer to join FC Utrecht while Alex Telles is thought to be close to joining Al-Nassr in a £4m deal. Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek are among those United are prepared to listen to offers for along with Harry Maguire, who was this week stripped of the club captaincy.
