Nottingham Forest set to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi and Nuno Tavares from Chelsea and Arsenal

Nottingham Forest are set to bring in Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea and Nuno Tavares from Arsenal shortly before the transfer window closes. Forest have been pursuing both players over the summer and deals have now been agreed for the winger and the left-back.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Tavares is set to move to the City Ground on loan from the Gunners for a loan fee of just £1m and a buy option of £12m, plus £3m in add-ons. Hudson-Odoi is set to sign a permanent deal with Forest, and while the transfer fee is yet to be confirmed, it has been reported at as little as £8m.

Fulham showed interest in the England international late in the transfer window, but it appears that Nottingham Forest have got their man. Still just 22 years old, Hudson-Odoi spent last season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen with limited success, making just 21 appearances and scoring one goal. His Chelsea career will come to an end with 16 goals in 126 appearances across all competitions and once being a £50m target for Bayern Munich, but ultimately leaving for a fraction of that cost to Nottingham Forest.

Tavares was also out on loan last season, spending the campaign at Marseille in Ligue 1 and scoring six goals in 39 appearances across all competitions from full-back. The 23-year-old remains under contract at Arsenal until 2025 and leaves on another short-term deal, following another left-back out of the club this summer as Kieran Tierney has moved to Real Sociedad on loan.

Forest also completed the signing of Murillo from Corinthians late on Thursday night, with the defender signing a five-year deal. The 21-year-old said: ‘I am very excited to join Nottingham Forest. It is a big club with a huge fanbase and I cannot wait to start playing at The City Ground. The Premier League is the best league in the world, so I can’t wait to test myself and give my all for this club.’

With these two signings, Nottingham Forest are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season and will be hoping that Hudson-Odoi and Tavares can help them push for promotion back to the Premier League. Both players have plenty of potential and experience at the highest level, so they should be able to make an immediate impact at the City Ground.

The transfer window closes at 11pm on Friday night, so it looks like Nottingham Forest are set to complete their business before then. It will be interesting to see how these two players fare in their new surroundings and if they can help Forest achieve their goal of promotion this season.
