Nottingham Forest ‘Need Work’ to Avoid Relegation Despite Win vs Brighton – Steve Cooper

Steve Cooper, manager of Nottingham Forest, is pleased with his team’s performance in fighting their way out of the Premier League relegation zone. Forest ended their 11-game winless streak by coming from behind to beat Brighton at a euphoric City Ground. Despite the home fans’ celebration, Cooper kept his emotions in check and chose not to respond with a fist-pump. He commented, “I am so pleased for the supporters and players but we haven’t won for months. I don’t think you can win a game and celebrate too much. We have a lot of work to do.” Forest had to overcome several obstacles before claiming victory, including missing an early penalty, going behind, and losing defender Neco Williams, who was taken to the hospital after a nasty collision with team-mate Brennan Johnson. The game was eventually tied up by a Pascal Gross own goal just before half-time, followed by Danilo’s goal and Morgan Gibbs-White’s injury-time penalty. This result took Forest above Everton and Leicester, out of the bottom three. Cooper credits the supporters for their unwavering support throughout the team’s recent struggles. He said, “People who have not been here for a while are taken aback by the atmosphere. We will never take it for granted. Even when games haven’t gone well, and there have been a few, we have just had real positive support, even when they are not feeling what they are showing. The way they are really helps and it did again tonight.”
