Reports suggest that Newcastle United are concerned that Chelsea will demand exorbitant fees for the players they want to sign this summer. The Magpies are keen on several Blues stars, including Conor Gallagher, Mason Mount, and Christian Pulisic. Newcastle is currently third in the Premier League table and has the best defensive record in the top-flight this term. They are looking to strengthen their squad for next season and are planning a transfer raid on Chelsea, who have spent over £600m since the summer and need to offload players to avoid a Financial Fair Play breach. However, Newcastle is worried that Chelsea will ask for excessively high fees, leading them to explore other options. It is believed they will return to make another bid for Leicester City’s James Maddison this summer. Newcastle has also been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar, although that seems unlikely at present. Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has previously stated that Newcastle is now part of the Premier League’s “big seven.”
