Anthony Gordon completed a move to Newcastle United and Kieran Trippier has welcomed him by posting a clip of their scrap.
Gordon completed his move from Everton to Newcastle over the weekend as his spell at the Toffees came to a sour end following a drawn-out transfer saga.
Newcastle beat off interest from Chelsea to get the deal done and there is a bit of pressure on Gordon as his £45 million transfer fee makes him the club’s second-most expensive transfer ever.
Now, Newcastle star Trippier has welcomed him in his own way – by sharing a clip on Instagram of the time the two got into a heated exchange in a Premier League match.
The two squared off in a match at St. James Park and it started off with a battle of words between Gordon and Trippier, before the rest of the Newcastle got involved and pushed the youngster a few times.
Trippier captioned the Instagram post “Here we go. Welcome bro @anthonygordon,” to which the new signing replied: “Thanks lad.”
There is no bad blood between the pair now as Gordon was pictured meeting and greeting the rest of his new Newcastle teammates on Sunday as he was unveiled to his team.
Trippier was one of the players he was seen in conversation with and the argument certainly was not forgotten by the Newcastle players, which has now become a laughing matter within the squad.

Forward Callum Wilson did something similar, posting a picture of the scrap on his Instagram story, saying “If you can’t beat em, join em.” The striker then added: “Welcome to the Toon brother. Looking forward to get started.”
Gordon reposted that story onto his own, showing he’s taking it lightly and ready to put that matter behind him as he gets started with the Toon.
