Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe has expressed his disappointment after his side’s 2-2 draw against Leeds United on Saturday, but insists the point gained could be crucial in securing Champions League qualification. Leeds kept their survival hopes alive with the draw, which saw them come from two goals down to earn a point.
The match saw Newcastle take the lead twice, with goals from Joe Willock and Callum Wilson, but Leeds equalised on both occasions through Tyler Roberts and Stuart Dallas. Despite the result, Howe believes the point could be vital in the race for the top four.
“We’re disappointed not to get the three points, but we have to take the positives,” said Howe. “The point could be crucial in terms of Champions League qualification, so we have to take it and move on.”
