Newcastle Fans Divided Over Karius Clangers in Cup Final Warm-Up

Newcastle United supporters were left in a state of confusion after footage of Loris Karius warming up at Wembley Stadium went viral. The former Liverpool goalkeeper, who joined the Toon on a free transfer last summer, was given a surprise debut in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester United due to Nick Pope’s red card. Karius, who is Newcastle’s third-choice keeper, was unable to play in the final due to being cup-tied from his loan spell at Manchester United earlier this season.

The 29-year-old had a nightmare performance in the 2018 Champions League final against Real Madrid, and has not played a competitive game for two years. This led to fans expressing their doubts when footage of Karius’ warm-up was shared online, with one fan writing: “My guy looked rusty when he was playing week in week out… this is just a joke.” Another shared footage from a famous scene from Breaking Bad of Walter White smashing his phone furiously and captioned it with: “Just seen the Karius warmup vid.”

However, not everyone was pessimistic about Karius’ chances, with one fan suggesting that he may be deliberately making mistakes to make Manchester United believe they are going to win. Another fan wrote: “Probably get… Man of the Match!” while another said: “It’s out of his system now. Clean sheet, MOTM, scores the winning pen.”

The mixed reactions from Newcastle United supporters regarding Loris Karius’ warm-up footage showed that the fans were uncertain about his performance in the Carabao Cup final. While some were pessimistic about his abilities, others remained hopeful that he would be able to put his past mistakes behind him and have a successful game. It remains to be seen whether Karius will be able to prove his doubters wrong and deliver a strong performance in the final.
