Victor Osimhen: Napoli President Insists Striker Will Stay Despite Interest from Europe’s Elite
Victor Osimhen has been one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe this summer, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain all credited with interest in his signature. However, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has insisted that it would take a ‘more than indecent offer’ for the 24-year-old to be sold this summer, believing the striker will stay with the club.
Osimhen has been in impressive form for Napoli since joining the club in 2019, scoring 31 goals in 39 games in all competitions last season. This impressive tally has taken his total goals to 59 in 101 games, and it is no surprise that Europe’s top clubs are keen to sign him.
De Laurentiis did not rule out the sale of his star striker, but did insist that it would take an enormous bid for an exit to be considered. Speaking at the launch of Napoli’s new kit, the club president said: ‘Osimhen will absolutely wear this new jersey. If a more than indecent offer were to come in, then we’d get over it and would be able to find other talents. Don’t worry, here there is the Azzurri passion that enflames our hearts.’
Osimhen has also made it clear that he is happy at Napoli after they won the Serie A title last season in style. In an interview with SoccerNet, Osimhen said: ‘I have never seen a city crazier about football like the way the Neapolitans are. They show all their players love. And wherever I go to, I am being respected. Kids love me, a lot of people admire me, they idolize me by putting on the replica of my mask. It shows the hard work I have given to them and what I mean to them. And for me, there’s no better place to be than this place.’
It is clear that Victor Osimhen is happy at Napoli and it seems that he will be staying with the club for the foreseeable future. However, if a ‘more than indecent offer’ does come in for him, then De Laurentiis may be forced to consider it. Until then, Osimhen will continue to be one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe and will be looking to add to his impressive goal tally for Napoli next season.
