Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian striker who has scored 25 goals in 30 appearances for Napoli this season, has suggested that he is happy to remain at the Italian club. Osimhen has been linked with a move to Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and PSG, but has reiterated his commitment to Napoli, with whom he has a contract until 2025. Napoli are currently 17 points clear at the top of Serie A and have reached the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time. Despite reports that Napoli could accept offers of €100m (£88m) for Osimhen, the player has declared his love for the club and signified his intention to stay for now.
Osimhen made his comments on Italian TV programme TG5, saying: “I’m at a great club and my career is growing constantly. I am already at one of the biggest clubs and I could not ask for more. Forza Napoli always! We are close to the objective and cannot wait to make our dream come true, to make it a reality. The players always believed, we always thought we could do something exceptional, even when nobody else believed we could. The affection from the city is extraordinary, I have never received so much love. I can’t wait to celebrate with them at the stadium.”
Osimhen’s comments could lead Manchester United to focus more on signing Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur, with the England striker heavily tipped to leave Spurs this summer. Chelsea, meanwhile, are linked with several different forward options, including Joao Felix who is on loan at Stamford Bridge from Atletico Madrid.
In other football news, Crystal Palace midfielder Michael Olise is set to snub Arsenal and stay at Palace for another season. Olise has been linked with several Premier League clubs after an impressive season in the Championship. Meanwhile, Gary Neville and Roy Keane have responded to criticism of Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes, with Neville saying that Fernandes is “not a leader” and Keane suggesting that he is “too concerned about his own performance”.
