A Remarkable Comeback
What makes Morant’s achievement even more impressive is that it comes after serving a 25-game suspension for multiple instances of brandishing a gun. In his first game back, Morant secured a thrilling 115-113 victory over the Pelicans with a game-winning layup at the buzzer. He contributed 34 points, eight assists, six rebounds, a steal, and a block in just 35 minutes of play.
This Player of the Week award marks Morant’s third in his career. The 24-year-old guard has already established himself as a two-time All-Star and former Rookie of the Year. In the Eastern Conference, Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers received the Week 9 honor after averaging 40.7 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists in their 2-1 record.
