Moises Caicedo’s agent, Manuel Sierra, has praised Arsenal as a ‘great club’ amid speculation that the Gunners will reignite their interest in the Brighton star once the transfer window reopens. Mikel Arteta sanctioned a club-record bid in excess of £70million in the January transfer window in an attempt to strengthen his midfield ahead of the run-in, however Brighton refused to countenance the sale of the Ecuador international. After a brief period of exile, Caicedo was brought back into the fold by Roberto de Zerbi and continued to excel over the second half of the season.
Speaking about his client’s future, Sierra told Arsenalinformer: ‘Arsenal is a great team for everyone; let’s see what happens in the summer, there are many clubs keen on Moises. Moises has 4 years left on his contract. He’s having an incredible season, so it’s normal that there are many clubs interested in him. Now he’s completely focused on the last part of the season; all evaluations will be postponed until the summer. This is not a surprise because there aren’t many other midfielders so young and talented around Europe. I believe he can really improve in every aspect of the game. He can slot into any [team] as he is ready for it all. His dream is to play in the Champions League and to reach as far as he can in football. His idol? Kante.’
Arsenal are still planning an overhaul of their midfield this summer but fear they will be priced out of the race for Declan Rice, who West Ham value in excess of £100million. The futures of both Granit Xhaka and Albert Sambi Lokonga, currently on loan at Crystal Palace, meanwhile, are both the subject of intense speculation.
