Liverpool Concerned About Mohamed Salah’s Injury During Africa Cup of Nations
Liverpool is anxiously awaiting news on the condition of Mohamed Salah after he suffered a potential hamstring injury during the Africa Cup of Nations. The star winger was forced to leave the pitch just before halftime in Egypt’s second group game against Ghana. Salah went down without any contact and appeared visibly upset as he walked off the field. However, he did return to the touchline to support his team.
Unfortunately for Egypt, just moments after Salah’s substitution, Ghana scored the opening goal, courtesy of West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus. The match ended in a 2-2 draw after three goals were scored in the span of five minutes in the second half. With only two points from two games, Egypt’s final group game against Cape Verde is now crucial.
Liverpool fans are now praying that Salah’s injury is not severe as they continue their pursuit of the Premier League title. The Reds currently sit at the top of the table, two points ahead of Manchester City and Aston Villa. Their lead could potentially be extended when they face Bournemouth this Sunday.
Salah did not speak to the media after the game, but Egypt’s manager, Rui Vitoria, provided a brief update on his captain’s condition. Vitoria expressed hope that the injury is not significant and stated that they will have to wait and see.
Salah has been in excellent form this season, scoring 14 goals and providing eight assists in 20 appearances for Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp will undoubtedly be hoping for a speedy recovery for his star player.
