Former Four-Star Recruit Mikey Williams Transfers to UCF
Mikey Williams, a highly-touted basketball player, has announced his transfer from Memphis to UCF through an Instagram post on Friday. The 19-year-old guard made the decision after entering the transfer portal earlier this week.
Williams, who was a freshman at Memphis, has yet to make his college basketball debut due to legal issues. In November, he pleaded guilty to a gun charge related to a shooting incident near his home in San Diego. While he was enrolled at Memphis and taking online classes, he had not participated in any team practices.

The shooting incident occurred in March 2023, where gunshots were fired at a car with six people inside. Fortunately, no one was injured. Williams faced nine felony counts but pleaded guilty to one count of criminal threatening on November 30. To have the charge reduced to a misdemeanor, he must complete 80 hours of community service, as well as anger management and gun safety courses. The sentencing for this charge is scheduled for August 12.
Despite the legal setback, Williams had an impressive high school career at San Ysidro in San Diego, averaging 26.9 points, 6.4 assists, and 4.8 rebounds.
