Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been winning over the hearts of Arsenal fans this season, and he has gone one step further by gifting cupcakes to journalists at his press conference on Friday. The cupcakes were decorated with Arsenal’s rich red colouring, the club badge, and footballs. Gunners fans loved the gesture, with many taking to social media to praise Arteta’s thoughtfulness. Arteta turned 41 during the international break and also won the Premier League’s Manager of the Month award for the fourth time this season after a stunning March.
Despite struggling in the opening seasons of his tenure as boss, Arteta has shone this term as Arsenal close in on the Premier League title. His former club Manchester City will chase them until the final day, but the current signs look good for Arsenal ending their 19-year wait for the league championship.
During the international break, Arsenal skipper Martin Odegaard was on the receiving end of a hefty challenge from City man Rodri in Norway’s defeat to Spain. Gunners fans were far from impressed with the midfielder, but when asked about it at his press conference, Arteta did not wish to go into too much detail about it. He said: “These things happen in football when they play against each other. But the rest of them are all good.”
Arsenal return to action against Leeds on Saturday, and Arteta’s focus for the rest of the season will be on winning the Premier League title. Arsenal currently sit eight points clear at the top of the table.
