Mikel Arteta has said that the Premier League title race is “not over” and that Arsenal still have the “nicest part of the season” to come. On Sunday, Arsenal lost top spot to Manchester City, who beat them 4-1 on Wednesday and now hold a one-point advantage with a game in hand. Arteta believes that Arsenal can still achieve the Premier League title, as there are five games left and a lot of things can still happen. He also said that the players have kept their fire in the belly and that they must forget about what happened last week and learn from it.
Brighton’s defeat by Nottingham Forest on Wednesday sealed Arsenal’s place in the Champions League next season for the first time since 2016-17, something which Arteta is incredibly proud of. Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has said that the progress made by Arsenal under Arteta this season is reward for the club showing patience with him even when results were not going their way early on, something he believes Chelsea could take inspiration from. Lampard also said that former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will have extra motivation when facing his old club on Tuesday.
