Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta Defends Team’s Performance Despite Recent Slump
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has given a confident defense of his team’s performances, claiming they are the best team in the Premier League in almost every aspect. Despite recent setbacks, Arteta remains optimistic about Arsenal’s potential.
The Gunners were leading the Premier League table on Christmas Day but have since dropped to fourth place after consecutive losses. In fact, they have only won one of their last seven matches across all competitions.
Arsenal’s recent struggles can be attributed to their lack of goals. Their top scorer, Bukayo Saka, has only netted six times, while 16 other players in the league have scored more. Additionally, Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, who are expected to contribute to the team’s goal tally, have only managed eight goals between them.
Despite these challenges, Arteta remains steadfast in his belief that Arsenal is performing well overall. He acknowledges the need for improvement in finishing but emphasizes that the team is doing all the right things.
Arteta stated, “You look at all the data and it is Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal at the top. The reality is we haven’t won enough matches. There is something underneath that, it is like an onion. The first layer, second layer… we have to go to the bottom of it to understand what is making us win or lose.”
Addressing the importance of getting back to winning ways, Arteta added, “We better start to pick up points if we want to be up there consistently. We know that at this level, you cannot afford more slip-ups. We have done a lot of things to produce as much as possible in the games, but ultimately, we have to win.”
Despite their recent slump, Arsenal remains determined to turn things around. They will face Crystal Palace in their upcoming match and hope to secure a victory to regain their momentum.
