Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was left to rue his side’s inability to hold on to a two-goal lead against Liverpool, but admitted that a draw was a fair result in the end.
The Gunners had taken a two-goal lead in the first half, courtesy of goals from Bukayo Saka and Alexandre Lacazette. However, Liverpool fought back in the second half and equalised through Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Speaking after the game, Arteta said: “We lost control of the game in the second half. We had the game in our hands and we should have been able to manage it better. But it was a great game to watch and I think a draw was a fair result.”
The draw leaves Arsenal six points behind fourth-placed Chelsea in the Premier League table and Arteta knows his side must now win their remaining games if they are to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
“We have to keep going,” he said. “We have four games left and we have to win them all if we want to qualify for the Champions League. We have to keep fighting and believing in ourselves.”
