Miguel Almiron ‘wasn’t bothered’ by Jack Grealish video criticising his playing ability as Newcastle man insists he’s never had issues with Man City star

Miguel Almiron insists he’s never had any issues with Jack Grealish despite the Manchester City star’s previous jibes about his playing ability.

Grealish was heard saying Riyad Mahrez played ‘like Almiron’ during Manchester City’s Premier League title parade last season.

The Paraguay forward initially struggled in the Premier League but has been a player transformed this season, having scored eight goals in 15 league appearances so far.

Meanwhile, Grealish has just one goal to his name in the Premier League this term although he’s made just eight appearances.

It’s been suggested that Grealish’s comments have been the catalyst behind Almiron’s inspired form but the 28-year-old is keen not to make a link.

On the infamous Grealish video, Almiron told the Daily Mail: “I didn’t pay a lot of attention, I was on holiday with my family.

“And I didn’t have a mobile phone signal! So no, I didn’t watch the video. I wasn’t bothered.”

Grealish has since expressed remorse for the comments he made and Almiron believes the England international is one of football’s good guys.

“Jack’s a great player and I will always wish him all the best,” Almiron said.

“He’s at Manchester City for good reason. I just avoid making any comparisons. It’s about me focusing on what I do. It’s no big deal.

“I saw the interview and heard that he spoke positively about me. I’ve never had anything against Jack and have maintained all along that I think he’s a great player and a good guy.

“There’s never been any issue for me. It was a nice interview and the fact he spoke the way he did, that reinforces the type of person he is.”

“I would shake his hand, no problem,” Almiron added.
