Michael Beale reminded of ‘loyalty and integrity’ comments by Simon Jordan amid links with Rangers job after rejecting Wolves to stay at QPR just 35 days ago

Simon Jordan say he is ‘perplexed’ by Michael Beale’s link to the Rangers job, just 35 days after committing his future to QPR.

The 42-year-old took charge at Loftus Road in the summer but has regularly been linked with a move away from west London, despite being in charge for just five months.

During that time, Beale has been linked with managerial posts with Aston Villa and Wolves, whom the manager turned down, citing ‘loyalty and integrity’ as one of the key reasons for sticking with the Championship club.

However, with Beale now heavily linked with a move to Ibrox, his previous comments have come back to haunt him.

After turning down the Wolves job, Beale said: “It has come a bit too soon. It is the aim for me to work in the Premier League, like it is for all our players.

“The idea is to try and go there ourselves as a group. When we are doing well there will be speculation.

“One thing for sure is that Wolves is a fantastic football club, they’re a historic football club. It was a real privilege to be asked to go and speak to them, but I didn’t think it was the right moment as I entered into an agreement here.

“Integrity is a real big thing for me and loyalty. You don’t give it to receive it back, but if those are the things you live by then at times when you are put in a position you have to be strong by them.

“I don’t think we are anywhere near where I want QPR to be as a group. I’m enjoying working with them, we’ve got a lot to do, but I’m excited by it.

“There’s going to be some bumps in the road, but I’ve been all in here and I’ve asked other people to be all in.

“So I can’t be the first person to run away from he ship.”

But just 35 days later Beale looks primed to ditch QPR and Jordan took aim at the manager’s previous comments regarding ‘integrity’, saying: “I’m perplexed as to why you’d want to be so strident in your view about integrity and then 35 days later or 40 days later, that’s now changed.

“If he now makes the decision to go to Rangers then everything I said five weeks ago would be exactly the same now.

“I did say I would be surprised If he didn’t go to Wolves and I was very pleasantly surprised that he didn’t. I listened to his little soliloquy about integrity, enjoying himself at QPR and having a job to do.

“I remarked on social media that I hoped sods law wouldn’t kick in and he’d lose the next game and he didn’t. He then went on to lose the next four or five.

“People will say that perhaps he could be facing some pressure from QPR in a few games’ time if he doesn’t win those games, but the bottom line is that Rangers is a very risky job.

“Celtic have got such a hold on that league at this moment in time. Ange Postecoglou is in such good nick and the difference between Celtic and Rangers is not insignificant.

“It comes back to my original position that these bloody managers need to earn their stripes and should just be jumping at the first opportunity.

“By the very nature of what you join up backwards now, something about Wolverhampton Wanderers’ conversation with Beale couldn’t have clicked and it seemingly had nothing to do with this position of ‘I want to stay at QPR’. It was probably something in the dialogue between him and Wolves.

“I hope I get proved to be wrong again but I think this time he’ll find himself out of the door.”
