Christophe Galtier, the manager of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), has confirmed that Lionel Messi will be leaving the club after his contract expires this month. The Argentine football icon had recently taken an unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia, which reportedly accelerated his departure from the Parc des Princes. PSG fans turned on Messi, and the club felt betrayed by his actions. Messi’s first season in Paris saw him earn £32.75 million, or £629,807 per week. Barcelona is a possibility for Messi, as the Spanish giants are keen to reunite him with Xavi. Reports suggest that Messi favours a move back to Spain for at least one more year before moving on and playing somewhere else to end his career. Saudi Arabia is another option as Messi is already an ambassador for Saudi tourism. Reports in France suggest that Al-Hilal are prepared to pay Messi £500 million a year. Messi has also been linked with a move to the US, especially David Beckham’s Inter Miami. However, a move to the Premier League seems unlikely due to his high wages.
