Mauricio Pochettino has been confirmed as the new manager of Chelsea and he has brought his son Sebastiano along for the ride. Sebastiano, 28, has dual Spanish and Argentinian citizenship and is the oldest of two sons Pochettino has with his wife Karina. He studied at Southampton Solent University while his father was managing the Saints and was awarded a first in Applied Sports Science. Sebastiano specializes in injury prevention and strength and conditioning and started working for Tottenham as a sport science assistant in 2016 after graduating. He was then promoted to the role of first team fitness coach and sport scientist in 2017, making him the youngest sport scientist in the Premier League at just 22 years old. His role saw him become a prominent figure in training and he sat in the Spurs dugout on match days. When his father moved to PSG in 2021, Sebastiano followed as a fitness coach. Pochettino has stated that his son is part of his coaching set-up on merit and that he has earned the respect and admiration of the players he has worked with. Sebastiano is expected to perform a similar role at Chelsea to the one he had at Tottenham and PSG. His younger brother Maurizio plays professional football for Gimnastic Tarragona in Spain.
