Marcus Rashford has been named Manchester United Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year. The 25-year-old is enjoying the best season of his career, with 30 goals and 11 assists, helping Erik ten Hag’s side win the Carabao Cup and reach the FA Cup final, as well as finish third in the Premier League. On Monday, Rashford collected his awards and expressed his pride. He also revealed who he voted for in the Players’ Player of the Year award.
Rashford said he voted for Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes, saying that Casemiro had made the team a lot more solid since joining from Real Madrid last summer, and that Fernandes had had another fine and underrated campaign with 13 goals and 15 assists, as well as creating the most big chances in the league. Defensive midfielder Casemiro was considered Rashford’s main rival for the awards, though his two sending offs and 13 yellow cards may have cost him the win. Fernandes won the Player of the Year trophy in 2020 and 2021 and is expected to wear the armband again on Saturday for the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
