Marcel Sabitzer admits he’s keen to join Manchester United on a permanent basis because he has ‘the trust’ of Erik ten Hag.
The Austrian midfielder joined the Red Devils on January deadline day following Christian Eriksen’s injury diagnosis, that originally suggested the Dane could miss the rest of the season.
Sabitzer was out of favour at Bayern Munich and the Germans therefore sanctioned his loan move to Old Trafford for the remainder of the season.
The Austria vice-captain has been in fine form for United, playing in a variety of midfield roles for Ten Hag.
Julian Nagelsmann has since been replaced by Thomas Tuchel at the Allianz Arena, which raises the possibility that Sabitzer could remain in Bavaria beyond this summer.
But Sabitzer says he wants to stay at Old Trafford because of his ‘very positive’ relationship with Ten Hag.
‘United made it clear that it was a project until the summer, then we’ll see,’ he told Bild.
‘Until then, I want to give everything here. It’s a loan deal without an option. In the summer, the situation will be evaluated
‘But I can say that I found my place here. Now I know the Premier League and can say there’s nothing better, more intense and tougher. Every game is a fight. It’s the best league in the world. When you play once here you know it’s incomparable
‘Of course my thoughts are on United, especially with the trust I get from Erik ten Hag – it’s very positive. But I’m not the only one who decides
‘There’s competition at every top club. At United, it’s even more extreme than in Munich. Here there’s McTominay, Eriksen, Casemiro, Fred and me. If I was afraid of competition, I wouldn’t have joined neither Bayern nor United.’
